This has been one of my favorite photography experiences ever. Just from start to finish. The bride and groom are good friends of mine and so I was excited already. Their wedding was just so personal to the couple. Visually gorgeous, small, intimate ceremony and reception. It was a vintage theme, including the guests. Everyone was asked to wear white, cream, or light pastel and it just made everything all the more beautiful.
I have to say, shooting wedding photos in Canada has probably destroyed me forever…it’s just INSANELY gorgeous there. Nebraska has its own special kind of beauty (that most people drive through fast enough to not notice) but there is something just so stunning about the gorgeous greens and dramatic size of the trees in the Pacific Northwest. The bride & groom allowed tons of time for photos ahead of the wedding which was so nice and stress-free. And we had SO. MUCH. FUN.
This one was so special because when I am shooting a wedding, especially the ceremony, I have to compartmentalize myself and get “in the zone” to focus on capturing everything. Normally, this isn’t a problem, but since I am such good friends with these two, it made it REALLY hard not to get swept up in the moment. But going through the photos was one of my favorite editing experiences. It was as though I got to experience my friends’ wedding for the first time! It made me happy to see them so happy!
And…finally…what do you do when a giant slug crashes your photo shoot in the Pacific Northwest? Make an animated GIF, of course! lol too fun not to share! 🙂
The bride had this to say: “Can you get a load of this guy? … oh god I’m married to him…”
